OUR FACILITIES

Ho'omalu Native Hawaiian Organization is hosted by Tessie & Gerald Ryusaki at their state-of-the-art building at Hawaii Truck Parts, Sales and Services (HTPSS) located in the heart of Kapolei Business Park. On top of being a lead supplier of heavy duty truck parts, HTPSS is also a truck sales and leasing and servicing company.  As a way to give back to the community, HTPSS has generously offered its facilities to Ho'omalu to provide top-notch conference rooms and classrooms to provide education to Native Hawaiian youth interested in pursuing careers in the industrial trades, including but not limited to, trucking and diesel mechanics.

HO'OMALU MEANING

To govern in peace, to bring under the protection of.

‘ULU TREE SIGNIFICANCE

Ho'omalu's logo is the 'ulu tree. Like the ‘ulu tree has helped to sustain the Hawaiian people, Ho'omalu aims to perpetuate the

promise of a sustainable future for Hawai‘i's young people.

One of the most important plants, brought to Hawai‘i by the ancient voyaging Polynesians, is this breadfruit tree, which played a major role in colonizing the Pacific and was a key staple food.

For hundreds of years before western contact with Hawai’i, this fruit tree was a large part of the cultural and spiritual life of ancient Hawaiians. Ancient Hawaiian breadfruit groves were so large that some were capable of sustaining approximately 75,000 people.

These 'ulu trees also served many other important purposes,

including protection from the sun and rain, and was a source of wood,

craft materials and medicines.

Ho'omalu seeks to provide nourishment

and support to help Hawai'i youth achieve healthy and productive lives.
